Cleaner vehicles are everywhere. Solar and wind power steadily replace dirty fuels. We finally grasp the impact of environmental decisions. So why is climate change news relentlessly bad?

Venture capitalist and clean-tech pioneer John Doerr looks at the scene and sees scattered, disorganized efforts. This, in contrast to tech’s secret weapon for success: the OKR goal-setting tool. OKRs—objectives and clean results—set out a roadmap, a coherent plan to unify the efforts and people fighting climate change.

The OKR tool made Google a search behemoth. It works for startups around the world. In the new book Speed & Scale, Doerr says it can save the planet.

Doerr’s vision comes from his own experience and success. An engineer, he’s the chairman of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. An original investor in both Google and Amazon, he’s plowed lessons learned into tackling health, education, and climate challenges.

Speed & Scale incorporates wisdom from Christiana Figueres, Al Gore, Mary Barra, and Bill Gates. It makes a compelling case: adopt key tech structures to win the most important battle of our lives.

John Doerr’s Kleiner Perkins technical advisor Ryan Panchadsaram shares the stage in conversation. He’s Doerr’s collaborator on both Speed & Scale and his number-one bestseller Measure What Matters. He also served under President Barack Obama, as Deputy Chief Technology Officer.

Here to moderate the conversation between Doerr and Panchadsaram, Kepler’s proudly welcomes Ryan Popple of Proterra. Ryan Popple is a partner with G2 (Green Growth) Venture Partners, a leading Venture Capital firm in the sustainability sector. A force for the transformation of industries ranging from automotive, to fuel, retail energy and urban planning, Ryan is also an executive Board Member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. His unique lens ranges across industry and activism.
