Are you a writer? Do you want to learn to write creatively or refine your skills? Not sure how to get started? Take the leap and join us for one or all of our online writing, publishing, and marketing classes this Fall. Taught by Alka Joshi, NYT bestselling author of The Henna Artist (a Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club selection), this 90-minute class will answer your burning questions about writing, the rhythm of a perfect sentence, why persistence matters, and how to best cultivate your creativity. Joining Joshi as guest instructors are two published authors, Anita Amirrezvani a Stanford MFA award-winning writer, and Bradley Jay Owens a globally esteemed author/instructor.

Host and guest instructors profiles:

Alka Joshi was Born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, and has lived in the U.S. since the age of nine. She graduated from Stanford University and worked in the fields of advertising and PR before starting her own marketing consultancy. In 2011, she obtained her MFA in Creative Writing from the California College of Arts in San Francisco, California. Alka is currently finishing the sequel and starting on the third book in the trilogy. She’s also serving as Executive Producer on the screen adaption of The Henna Artist.

Anita Amirrezvani’s first novel, The Blood of Flowers, has appeared in 31 languages and was long-listed for the 2008 Orange Prize for Fiction (now the Women’s Prize). Her second novel, Equal of the Sun, was published by Scribner in 2012 and has appeared in ten languages. She teaches in the writing programs at the California College of the Arts.

Bradley Jay Owens has taught creative writing at Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and the University of Wisconsin Madison. His stories and essays have appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Ploughshares, The Henfield Prize stories, and elsewhere. “How I Met You,” a collection of stories, was published by Brighthorse Books in 2018.
