Literary Seminar with Kimberly Ford: The Paul Chowder Chronicles

  • Kepler's Books 1010 El Camino Real #100 Menlo Park, CA United States (map)

This Seminar combines the deep pleasure of reading an exceptional novel with the depth of a college-level lecture. Please join us! For our out-of-town attendees, we have an option to attend virtually.

The Paul Chowder Chronicles, Nicholson Baker

Kimberly has been dying to read Nicholson Baker for the entire eight years(!) we have been doing the Seminars. The Anthologist (half of The Paul Chowder Chronicles)* is SUCH good grist for her mill. This inventive pseudo-memoir follows Paul Chowder’s attempts to write an introduction to a poetry anthology called Only Rhyme. His meditations on his writer’s block, his (failing) love life and life in general are funny, incisive, wide-reaching, and weirdly relatable. Even non-lovers of poetry (like Kimberly) will love this hilarious, brainy, unique novel!

*We will only discuss The Anthologist, but The Paul Chowder Chronicles also includes the sequel, Traveling Sprinkler.

NOTE: Our supplier has backordered The Paul Chowder Chronicles. If you opt to purchase a copy, please allow 6–8 weeks for your book to become available.

There are several ticket options: book with purchase (either shipped or picked up at Kepler’s Books), or Seminar only. The book should be read prior to the meeting date.

Masks are required for everyone over the age of 2 years old and must be worn at all times. Thank you for helping us do our part in keeping our community, authors, and staff safe and healthy.
