Dr. Fei-Fei Li is at the forefront of a technology that has swept into our national consciousness and is at the epicenter of scientific debate: artificial intelligence. The Worlds I See begins in a hotel lobby with Li about to give her testimony before the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. AI is on the table, a subject Li has devoted her career to researching, and which she believes has the power to change the world for the better. Throughout this remarkable book, Li describes her journey to that DC hotel. From weekends spent working in her parents’ dry cleaning store, she describes her immigrant journey from Chengdu in China to the United States, weaving in the passion for physics that led her to Princeton, and breakthrough research into how our brains process visual details. Condoleezza Rice describes The Worlds I See as “the best explanation of AI that I've ever read while telling the story of her [Dr. Li’s] own profoundly American journey as a young immigrant who finds herself through education. This is a must-read.”
